Thank you B! You as well as everyone (Val, Steph, Tula, Rob and even those I don't know their names yet!) always welcome me back to the gym with open arms. Last year was a very complex year. It's nice to know I was missed. But more importantly, I have been able to use the tools you and everyone at the gym have taught me to keep my weight down during my absence. So glad you are expanding to a bigger gym. You really do change lives!

Great post.

My wife and I have done Crossfit for about a year. My wife and I now train on our own at a commercial gym. We were at a Crossfit before we moved but they barely scaled us, I got hurt, and they seemed interested in only beat downs. They were new when we joined so looking back I just see their immaturity. They told me I was hurt because of lack of consistency. Some weeks I had to travel out of town thus unable to get to their box. I believe the reason I got hurt was more from them not teaching me proper movements, too much weight, and just throwing me in. Looking back I had huge movement issues! I didn’t know any better to say anything, never seemed right. Left me feeling like I failed and it was all my fault. Before joining their box I was not doing much other than golf and eating poorly. (overweight) My wife and I now have come to the realization that we need to build competency in basic strength and mobility. We are currently doing a basic strength program (Starting Strength) and are riding the great novice effect. I can look back now and see where I went wrong with Crossfit, (filthy fifty and a 5 k, no scaling all within two months of joining their box, and I didn’t think for myself letting others make decisions for me, leading to several back injuries…) but I am thankful we found Crossfit. It has exposed me to things I never would have thought I would be into. This is by far the longest fitness thing I have stuck with so I appreciate what Crossfit has done and am able to realize what Crossfit is, a tool amongst many tools we can tap into. Now I can’t wait to progress in this linear strength progression and become more mobile, so that later in the year I can begin incorporating Olympic lifting. (and the occational <12 min metcon, skill, rope climb, tinker with gymnastics, and have fun with our new found strength!) I feel a sense of freedom to know I don’t have to beat myself up to see results.
I am excited to use Crossfit as a tool and resource. Philosophy of training is now a kitchen table discussion with my wife. Changing a family tree as Dave Ramsey says.

I am pumped to see improvement in our training for 2011 by getting strong, smart planning, and continuing Paleo nutrition. Great site, keep up the good work.
